Is it possible to speed up fatloss?

There are certain things you can do to give yourself the best chance of losing fat.

1. Lift weights

Building lean muscle is one of the best ways to burn more calories! Having more muscle mass means you burn more calories at the same body weight than if you had less muscle mass. Muscle is metabolically active tissue that requires energy to maintain, where as fat tissue is not

2. Get some good sleep

Lack of sleep can negatively impact metabolism and hunger hormones, leading to increased cravings and a slower metabolic rate. But HOW? Establish a consistent sleep schedule and create a sleep-friendly environment, ensuring you turn off all screens an hour before bedtime!

3. Drink water

Not only is water essential for various bodily functions, including metabolism and fat breakdown, sometimes our bodies confuse thirst with hunger- leading to unnecessary snacking – drinking water can stop this from happening.

4. Bump up your protein intake

Protein is a key player for building muscle (see point one) and it can also help with feelings of satiation – meaning we feel fuller for longer. Another reason protein is a favourite for fatloss, is that the process of digesting protein itself burns up to three times the calories compared to digesting carbohydrates or fat.

5. Stress less

Easier said than done right? Stress, especially chronic stress, can cause weight loss or weight gain due to hormonal imbalances leading to changes in appetite and metabolism. Make sure to allow time each week for “recovery” and “me” time in order to decrease stress.
