10 Reasons you should think about giving running a try

1. You can do it anywhere – let’s face it you’re not always around the corner from the gym…

2. Make new friends – joining a running club (or another sports club) makes a nice change from internet dating that’s for sure

3. Eat more carbs – yay!
I love reasons to eat pasta! But this only applies to decent runs ok? A jog/walk around the park probably doesn’t require extra food, but increasing carb intake might help running performance and boost mood during harder runs.

4. Live longer
Runners have fewer disabilities and remain active longer than their sedentary counterparts, even as weekly running times decrease with age, the healthy benefits keep on ticking .

5. Get into the outdoors
Running outside and getting a good view of actually shows and increase in self-esteem post run. Besides it’s nice to get out there!

Older runners can keep their balance better than non-runners, protecting their knees and tendons in the process. Take that, yoga! Be careful not to overdo it, though: Too much exercise can lead to stress injuries and bone loss .

Running is a natural way to keep high blood pressure at bay—and fast. Amping up workouts can help lower blood pressure in just a few weeks.

Running encourages high quality sleep and the and if you generally have an exercise routine you will probably got to bed earlier and sleep longer.

Running boosts the brain’s serotonin levels, which improves your mood so you can beat the stresses of everyday life

10. Increase stamina
Running regularly will improve stamina, making workouts more enjoyable and productive. And let’s not forget that lasting longer isn’t restricted to the track—it’s useful in… other areas as well.
